What is Bridges to New Horizons?

Bridges to New Horizons: Integral Peace Projects Leadership -- Lebanon (IPPL-L) is a 6-month leadership journey for emerging leaders across Lebanon. It combines hands-on project design with transformative learning across project management, transformational leadership development, conflict resolution, and trauma healing

Who is this program for?

The program is designed for young adults (ages 25–35) who are:

  • Are ages 25-to-35 with 3-10 years work experience 

  • Work as a professional (nonprofit, local government, engineering, healthcare, law, etc.) 

  • Have a demonstrated ability to connect across boundaries 

  • Are living and working in Lebanon 

  • Have passion and vision for a unified Lebanon 

  • Apply with an early stage project / idea to leverage

  • Ready to learn, reflect, and co-create with a national cohort

Participants may come from diverse sectors—civil society, education, grassroots activism, arts, or local governance.

What kind of projects are eligible?

Projects can address a wide range of issues, including, but not limited to:

  • Community conflict or polarization

  • Youth empowerment

  • Environmental peacebuilding

  • Arts and storytelling for healing

  • Dialogue between communities

 Projects must be community-based and peace-oriented, but may be new or already underway.
What support do participants receive for their projects?

Participants receive structured training in project planning, stakeholder engagement, budgeting, and risk assessment. They also receive coaching and opportunities to present their projects to funders and civic leaders.

What does the program include?

The participant experience consists of:

  • Four in-person workshops (Workshops I-III are four days, held Friday through Monday; Workshop IV is two days on a Saturday through Sunday)

  • Ongoing coaching and mentorship

  • Fieldwork implementation period

  • Certification and networking opportunities

All workshops include experiential learning, guest speakers, group work, and peer feedback.

Is the program free?

Yes. Thanks to generous funders and partners, the IPPL-L program is available at no cost to participants and teams. This includes training, lodging, meals, materials, and local transport during workshops. Sponsorship opportunities are available – contact: Johnny Assaf, jassaf@newgenpeace.org.

How is this program different from others?

IPPL-L blends technical leadership development with personal transformation. It centers holistic peacebuilding—drawing on mind, body, spirit—and integrates neuroscience, trauma healing, and systems theory alongside project management.

What is the application process?

Applicants complete a short online form, including:

  • A description of their peace project or idea

  • A personal motivation statement

  • A reference or letter of support

Selected applicants may be invited to a short interview.

Who leads the program?

An experienced team of 20+ professionals from Lebanon and other countries has collaborated on the innovative program: Bridges to New Horizons: Integral Peace Projects Leadership – Lebanon 2025. They offer a unique blend of insight, empathy, and actionable strategies in four areas: project management, transformational personal leadership development, conflict resolution, and individual and collective trauma healing.
